I don’t have a poor diet.
I’m not on drugs.
I don’t drive a car.
I travel outside the country.
That pretty much has always put me securely on the outside of just about any slice of American culture. I can feel pretty alien in my own country, but have always just remained silent about it and narrowed my scope of understanding as much as possible. Years of that–without any recognition. In America, I am the invisible man.
